A New Material for Secure Printing: IR-Absorbing Pigment IKA-1
A new product has been introduced to the secure printing materials market — a white-moon colored powder with unique optical and technical properties under the brand name IKA-1. This material opens up new possibilities for creating covert security features on banknotes, documents, labels, and more.
Key characteristics:
- Appearance: White-moon colored powder;
- Particle size: 2–5 μm;
- Special property: Effective absorption of radiation in the IR-range (850–1050 nm);
- Appearance in an IR-detector window: Completely black;
- Solubility: Insoluble in water and organic solvents;
- Thermal stability: Withstands reversible temperature increases up to 500 °C.
Applications
The material is intended for use as a base for printing inks with special security properties. It can be used both individually and in combination with luminescent components, enabling the creation of multi-layered covert effects that are only visible when verified using specialized equipment.
The pigment is available in two forms:
- As a powder for independent application;
- As ready-made screen and offset printing inks.
Shade depth, concentration, and ink characteristics can be customized to meet specific customer requirements, ensuring maximum flexibility in developing security solutions.
This new IR-absorbing pigment is a modern tool for enhancing the protection and authentication levels of products in the printing industry.
